Mix the sugar with the warm water and milk and stir in yeast. Mix until yeast is dissolved and set aside for about 10 minutes to give yeast time to foam up a bit.
Stir in 1 cup of flour, adding the salt and vegetable oil. Transfer to bowl of stand mixer, if not using it already.
Using stand mixer with dough hook attachment, add 1 cup active(or fed within the last 4 hours) sourdough starter.
Continue mixing adding 1 cup of flour at a time until all has been added. You will now knead the dough for 5 minutes. After kneading is complete, transfer dough to large bowl that has been oiled, and roll the dough so that both sides are oiled. Cover bowl with damp cloth and allow to rise until it has doubled in size. (1 hour or so)
After dough has doubled in size, punch it down and knead it by hand for 3 minutes or so, then divide dough in half and let it rest for 5 minutes. During this time you will need to grease 2 9X5 loaf pans. I sprayed mine with vegetable cooking spray. After 5 minutes, shape dough into loaves and place in prepared pans. Let them rise until dough has risen about an inch over the top of the pan.
Bake bread in 350 degree preheated oven for 30 minutes or until loaves sound hollow when thumped.
